En noviembre, CECAM lanzó un proyecto de computación trabajando con los niños del área local que tienen que trabajar para apoyar a sus familias.

Domingo, de 12 años, trabaja en una llantería y Elizabeth, de 15 años, trabaja en una ferretería. Con la ayuda de Einar, un experto de computación que viaja de Quillacollo para dar su apoyo al proyecto, los niños están aprendiendo computación básica y como usar el Internet y Microsoft Office.

Proveer estos jóvenes con habilidades de computación los da más oportunidades de empleo y educación para el futuro. Esperamos a extender este proyecto y equipar a mucho más de los jóvenes de Cochabamba con estas destrezas importantes en el futuro. También queremos extender este proyecto a mujeres en barrios de escasos recursos.

Our First Students and Tutor

In early November 2010, CECAM launched a computer literacy project, working with local kids who have to work in menial jobs in order to help support their families.

12 year old Domingo works changing tires for a living, while 15 year old Elizabeth works in a hardware store. With the help of computer expert Einar, who travels from neighbouring city Quillacollo to support the project, these children are learning basic computer skills as well as how to use the internet and Microsoft Office free of charge.

CECAM plans to be able to provide children who would otherwise not have the opportunity with computer science workshops. CECAM hopes to expand this program by increasing the number of students and by increasing the facilities available.

By providing children with this type of education we are providing them with a base from which they have a greater option of further education such as the CCNA (certificación oficial de cisco como un asociado y tecnico en redes) one of the most important and necessary internationally recognized qualifications required to master information technology. Currently five children attend this program; if funding can be attained CECAM hopes to build on the facilities available and thus the number of children who can attend. We plan to triple the number of attendees.
